So, what is it that makes a great website? Why am I 'grabbed' by some and not others?
This one really got me..... www.jasonmraz.com and here's my reasons why....
- simple, eye-catching, unique design
- choice of voice, music or silence whilst browsing
- visual gadgets like music notes popping up over the "check it out" link
- use of video which brings the site to life
- up-to-date content written in 'friendly' tone
- simple navigation
Design, content and navigation are key elements in any site, and your web designer or SEO expert can help you check whether these elements in your site are creating the kind of response you need for your business. Search engines love the use of video, and your search results will be higher if you have video(s) uploaded to your site. But how do you test the overall effect of your site on a viewer, and does the look of your site influence the kind of customer you may or may not get?
Why not use a poll or survey? These are easily created with standard email marketing software, and emailing your current customers to ask them what they like/don't like about your site will give you valid feedback. Sometimes, all it takes is a simple 'tweak' to your site design, content or navigation for you to get many more customers.
What do you think? Give me your views on this site, or ones you really like....
